UC Irvine Change of Major Criteria

Students must meet BOTH requirements:

• Minimum 2.0 GPA overall; and
• Minimum GPA of 2.0 in the quarter preceding the change of major

Students must complete the following requirements with an average GPA of 2.0 or higher at the time of application:

• ICS 21*, 22*, 23*
• Mathematics 2A-B-D
• Biological Sciences 93 and 94

*Completion with a grade of C or better is required to progress through the sequence and to other Bren School of ICS courses required for the major.

• Students with more than 90 units will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, provided they have made substantial progress in courses required for the major.
• Students will not be able to complete the degree in Biomedical Computing prior to Spring 2013.

Students must meet BOTH requirments:

• Minimum 2.0 GPA overall
• Minimum GPA of 2.0 in the quarter immediately preceding the change of major.

Students must complete the following requirements with an average GPA of 2.7 or higher at the time of application:

• Mathematics 2A-B
• Informatics 41/42/43 or ICS/CSE 21/22 and ICS 52*

*ICS 52 requires that ICS/CSE 23 be completed with a grade of C or better.

• While this major is jointly offered by the Donald Bren School of ICS and the Paul Merage School of Business, all administrative and advising functions for the students will be administered by the Donald Bren School of ICS Student Affairs Office.
• Students who have completed some but not all prerequisites may be considered if sufficient space is available.
• Students will not be able to complete the degree in Business Information Management prior to Spring 2011.

2.0 average GPA or above in ICS 21 and 22 or Informatics 41 and 42, and one of the following: Math 2A, Math 2B, ICS 6B/Math 6B or ICS 6D/Math 6D.

• Students admitted to the major in Computer Science and Engineering will be assigned to the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences or The Henry Samueli School of Engineering based on enrollment.
• Students with more than 90 units will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, provided they have made substantial progress in courses required for the major.

An average GPA of 2.0 in Informatics 41 and 42, or ICS 21 and 22, and either ICS 6B/Mathematics 6B or Philosophy 29.

2.0 average GPA or above in ICS 21 and 22 or Informatics 41 and 42, and one of the following: Math 2A, Math 2B, ICS 6B/Math 6B or ICS 6D/Math 6D.
